I promised updates on the fixer upper and boy is it coming along. It’s so close to being done, but I couldn’t wait to show you the progress. I forewarn you the before pictures are not pretty. Remember the home had been vacant for 10 years.
This is a before of one of the bedrooms. Take note of the window a/c unit. It had been left in the window which allowed water to leak into the home. Unfortunately that caused the window sill to rot as well as causing significant damage to the floor joists and subfloor. The damage to the floor caused it to sag and allowed the water to travel into the adjoining bedroom causing damage to the flooring there as well.
Here is the AMAZING transformation of the bedroom after the repairs. The closet space was cut down to allow us to move the shower in the bathroom. The previous layout had the shower up against the window. I figured the con of a smaller closet was better than showering in front of the window. But it’s all in your preference.
This is probably the most scariest before picture of all. You’ve got drop ceilings, brown carpet, brown paneling, a wood burning stove rigged in the living room next to the frig which was also in the living room. The kitchen is still in the works and I have some great ideas that involve barn wood and galvanized metal. Excited to see how the hubs puts it all together.
Here is the living room after. Still working on trim, but look, no more wood stove, drop ceilings or a frig in the living room. That added some much needed square footage to our living space.
I know the house may not be done, but Daffodils were blooming in the yard so I couldn’t resist but to pick some and add some color and life to the house.
I also could not resist the 65 degree temperatures that we had on Saturday so my daughter and I got the canoe wet.
No words are needed to describe the beauty in that.
Until next time…
