This past weekend got away from us pretty quickly, and I’m afraid the next several weekends are not going to be much better. Seems as though we have a calendar full of places to be and errands to run that will keep us occupied the rest of the month. However, the gears are still turning on the lake house so I thought I would give you a sneak peek of what we have in store. Currently the hubs is working on the kitchen and it’s looking pretty darn sharp in my opinion. We decided to use some old galvanized metal and barn wood and I’m glad we did. We were lucky enough to be able to score some wood from our grandparents’ old barn. It turned out to be more than just a statement, but a little bit of history and sentimental value.
Like I said it’s not done so I can only share a sneak peak! Check out that vintage pendant light. The hubs salvaged it and I like to give him a hard time about it being green and not matching anything, but I really do like it. What makes it come all together is that the imperfection is perfect.
I’ve got another project brewing here that I have plans for. My mother in law had this beautiful old door in storage and she was nice enough to give it to me. I’m glad to be able to give it a new life and enjoy it’s beauty and craftsmanship. They sure don’t make them like this anymore. You can’t tell much from the picture, but just wait.
Finally, I was also able to get some old lockers from the kids’ school. They aren’t perfect and have seen their better days, but hey I’m going for the imperfect is perfect look. I think they will make great storage at the lake house and make a good conversation piece. My kids thought they were in pretty bad shape, however it was exactly what I was looking for. I hope that when the kids are older they will appreciate having a piece of their school history & it will bring back memories for them.
Just a little end note before I sign off, for those of you that like to garden, don’t forget to plant your potatoes on St. Patty’s Day!
til next time…
